Course Description

This course is focused on the older child/ teen who finds eating challenging. The etiology of why a child is a picky eater has a direct impact on the approach that a clinician will primarily utilize while treating that client for picky eating and expansion of repertoire. This is especially true when the child comes to us at an older age and the feeding patterns have habituated. Heidi will demonstrate diagnostics to examine during an evaluation. She will also review therapeutic strategies that she has found to be the most successful with older eaters. Heidi will share some aspects of her HMS Feeding Therapy Protocol for Expansion of Repertoire and how it is geared to empower older children.

Learning Outcomes

1. The participants will be able to name at least 2 diagnostic criteria to evaluate.
2. The participants will be able to name at least 3 therapeutic strategies to use with an “older” picky eater population.
3. The participant will have a better understanding of the HMS Feeding Protocol.
